Specialist, Mechanic

Under general supervision, performs more complex preventive and corrective maintenance to the company transportation equipment fleet. Responsible for the maintenance of the refrigeration units, generators, tractor engines, and general equipment services.

His tasks include inspection and repair of tires, breaks, lights, equipment body, engine, oils, and general cleaning. Reports to the Manager, Maintenance

5 year maintenance experience working with reefer, generators, and tractors.

High school is required, a technician diploma in mechanics, electricity or refrigeration is desirable.
Formal training from manufacturing providers of reefer units and generators is a plus.

Working
Conditions Outside the container yard and the maintenance shop, exposed to high noise levels, dust, dirt, mechanical and electrical hazards, and to hazardous equipment and materials. Availability to work irregular hours, holidays weekends if necessary. Ability to bend, reach, lift and carry 25 to 50 pounds. Ability to push/pull hard parts with load weighing up to 50 pounds. Ability to stand for 30% to 50% of 8 hour workday. Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl. Ability to climb ladders up to 15 feet. Be able to give instructions and operate special hand tools and equipment related to transportation equipment maintenance. Must comply with all work rules including those pertaining to heath and safety.
